Thursday's Child Creative studio
est 2023
founded and designed by Emma weithas

I was painting at an easel at one year old, so art has been part of my life from the beginning. I come from a family of artists, and their paintings and prints still hang in our homes today. I’ve always loved that something a family member made years ago is still part of our everyday lives. Thursday’s Child is my way of continuing that.
In college at TCU, I started painting coolers and taking commissions for friends. I loved making something personal that people could actually use and show off, and each project let me bring someone else’s personality into my work. What started as a creative outlet became something bigger than I expected, and in 2023, I launched Thursday’s Child.

The name comes from a print that hung above my bed growing up: Thursday’s child will go far. I made it my mantra, and it felt right for a brand built on big dreams. It also helped that my last name didn’t exactly work well a business name...

My style comes from growing up in Southern California, spending my college years in Texas, and the places I’ve traveled along the way. I’m drawn to bright colors, nature, playful typography, and vintage details.

Phone cases were a natural starting point. Your phone goes everywhere with you, so its case should be protective and something you love looking at. I think of our cases as wearable art, a small but very visible way to show your personality. Seeing them out in the world, including with celebrities and influencers, has been surreal, and I don’t take that support for granted.

Every design starts with a sketch on paper before moving to a digital canvas, where I play with color, scale, texture, and different mediums until it feels right. I keep an eye on what’s happening in design, but I always come back to what I’d want to carry, wear, or hang in my own home. My years in corporate marketing and design taught me how to turn an idea into something cohesive, and alongside my own collections, I’ve created logos and branding for businesses and helped people find art they love.

Today, Thursday’s Child is home to phone cases and art prints, with more ideas in the works. I want to keep building a world around the things I love: art, travel, color, and eventually more ways to share inspiration for cooking, hosting, and making a space your own.
My hope is to pass along a little of what my family’s art gave me: a connection to the person who made it, and the happiness of having something you love around you every day.
